Meet the Owners

The quick history:
Velodrome Coffee Company was founded by Brice and Teagan Sturmer in December 2016. In our humble beginnings the two of us just started roasting a little coffee and selling it online. In August 2017 we opened our first cafe and roastery in Marquette, Mi and in January 2018 we decided to bring in Paul Vafa as our 3rd owner and operating partner.
The man, the stache, the legend.
Hailing from California, Paul not only brings all the surfer vibes to Velodrome, but he also humbly brings a decade of service industry experience to the squad. Whether it has been coffee, craft cocktails, photography, or audio engineering, Paul does everything with intentionality and heart. His generosity and lovable personality have a way of instantly making the shop feel like home.
When he's not slinging spro or installing Modbars, you can catch him out rippin' on the mountain bike and cross-country ski trails of MQT or hanging with his insanely talented wife, photographer Amy Vafa.

Teagan is the Michigan native of the team. Splitting her childhood between lower state and the upper peninsula of Michigan, Teagan has always considered the Marquette area home. With a background in creative writing and art, Teagan is who to blame for our killer social media feeds.
When Teagan isn't at the shop, you can probably find her cuddles up with one of her fur-babies (Remus, Phoebe, or Sybil) reading a book or stitching a piece for her online Etsy business, Muted Rose Embroidery. And... when she's not busy being an instagram queen, she's probably at the theater getting ready for her next part or helping some kids learn how to act.
Born and raised in the dairy-land, coffee and biking have been Brice's life-long passions. With a nursing degree in hand, coffee continued to become Brice's passion and doors opened at just the right times for him to make it a career. However, early on in his coffee journey, Brice knew the ultimate goal would be to run his own roasting company... the planning was on-going and the stars aligned in 2016 when Teagan suggested a move back home and a time to start this dream.
When he's not roasting up a storm at the shop, he's probably racing bikes or training to race bikes.
